5 Efficient Energy Saving Tips for Winter

Keeping more money in your pocket instead of paying it to power companies is easy to do by following these 5 energy saving tips. Your house will be more comfortable and easier to heat by eliminating drafts, adding insulation and changing filters.

Insulation effect
Adding more insulation in the attic area helps save energy by keeping your furnace off more often. This is easy to do and can be done in a few hours. Insulation is cost effective and will pay for itself in a short period of time giving you energy savings year round.

Take care of the furnace
The burners need cleaning so as to burn efficiently. Filters need change regularly which keeps the furnace breathing better which will save a lot of energy. If your furnace is eight to ten years old, consider an update to a new furnace which is much more energy efficient.

All the draft
Seal around anywhere you think a draft could be coming in from windows to electrical outlets. Make sure doors fit snug. Hang heavy drapes over unused doors and windows that receive little sunlight.

Controlled thermostat
A thermostat that allows you to program settings for different parts of the day will save a lot of energy over the heating season. This way you use the heat when you need it which is much more effective.

New windows
Installing energy saving windows throughout the house will have a big effect on the amount of energy you save.
